One of the world's most popular games, "Minecraft," is heading to virtual reality.
Facebook-owned Oculus VR is partnering with "Minecraft" owner Microsoft to create and release a virtual reality version of the enormously popular game. Oculus executives announced as much during a September 24 press conference in Los Angeles, part of the company's now-annual developer conference called "Oculus Connect."
The virtual reality version of "Minecraft" lets players step into its blocky, custom-crafted worlds using either Samsung's "Gear VR" headset (which is available now and requires a high-end Samsung phone to function) or the Oculus Rift (which is planned for an early 2016 launch).
